Crochet Stitch How-To: The Rope Stitch

The Rope Stitch is a crochet stitch similar in construction to the Iris Stitch, but a touch more basic than lacy. Because of the chains between double crochets, and the skipped stitches between, this stitch builds up into a fabric that’s visually pleasing with excellent drape.

Pattern:

Multiple: 3sts + 2, plus 1 for foundation chain

Row 1: 1dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 1, 1dc in next ch, *skip 1ch, 1dc in next ch, ch1, 1dc in next ch; rep from * to last ch, 1dc in last ch, turn.

Row 2: Ch3, skip first 2dc, *[1dc, ch1, 1dc] in next ch-1 sp, skip 2dc; rep from * to last dc, skip last dc, 1dc in tch, turn.

Repeat Row 2 to form pattern.
